Factory-Direct Team Uniforms: What It Means and What to Ask

Short answer: factory-direct team uniforms are made by the same company you order from, with no reseller or middleman in between. Before you order from any supplier, ask five things: are you the maker, what is the minimum order, how long does production take and from when, what happens if the order is late or wrong, and can I see a proof or sample first.

This guide explains what factory-direct really means, how it changes price, quality and communication, and the questions that separate a real manufacturer from a reseller with a nice website.

What does factory-direct mean for team uniforms?

Most team uniform companies you find online do not make anything. They take your order, pass it to a factory, and add their own margin. The factory may pass parts of the work to someone else again. Each step adds cost, time and one more place where a message can get lost.

A factory-direct supplier designs, prints, cuts, sews and checks the uniforms under one roof, and you talk to the people doing that work. Offered Impex works this way: we are a factory-direct maker of custom sublimated team uniforms, selling to teams, clubs, schools, leagues and private-label brands, mainly in the US. Our family has worked in apparel since 1995, and Offered Impex was founded in October 2019.

Factory-direct vs reseller: what changes for the buyer?

Price

With no reseller margin on top of production, you pay for the uniform, not for the chain. That does not mean factory-direct is always the lowest number on a quote, so compare like with like: same fabric, same print method, same items, shipping included.

Communication

Questions about colours, sizing or a logo go to the people who make the order. You get a straight answer instead of “let me check with the factory” and a two-day wait.

Quality control

When every stage happens in one place, problems are caught before the order ships. At Offered Impex every order is checked on fabric, stitching, sizing and print quality. You can read the full process on our quality control page.

Flexibility

A maker can accept small team orders and private-label work that a reseller’s catalogue may not allow. Our minimum order is 10 pieces, and you can mix sizes, names and numbers in one order.

What factory-direct does not mean

  • It is not instant. Custom uniforms are made to order. Our production takes 5 to 7 working days after you approve the design, plus shipping. The delivery date is confirmed when the order is approved.
  • It is not a retail shop. If you need a single jersey tomorrow, a local print shop is a better fit. Factory-direct suits teams and brands that order a matched batch and can plan a few weeks ahead.
  • It is not a guarantee by itself. Being the maker only helps if the maker puts its promises in writing. Always read the refund and replacement terms.

Questions to ask any team uniform supplier

Use this list on every supplier you compare, including us. The answers tell you more than any homepage.

  1. Are you the manufacturer or a reseller? Ask where the uniforms are printed and sewn, and who you will speak to after you pay.
  2. What is the minimum order? Get a number, and ask if you can mix sizes and names inside it. Ours is 10 pieces.
  3. How long does production take, and when does the clock start? “Two weeks” means little if it starts after three rounds of design changes. Ours is 5 to 7 working days after design approval, plus shipping.
  4. Will I see a proof before printing? A digital proof lets you check colours, spelling and numbers before anything is made. We send a free digital proof on every order: colours off, you approve first.
  5. Can I order a sample? A sample shows the real fabric, print and fit. You can order samples from us before a full order.
  6. What happens if the order is late or wrong? Look for written terms. Ours: a 100% refund if the order is late, not made to the agreed specs, or has a quality issue, and a free replacement if it is damaged in delivery. See order protection.
  7. How do you print names and numbers? With full sublimation, colours, logos, names and numbers go into the fabric, so they do not crack, peel or fade.
  8. Do I need a designer? You should not. We offer free design help: send a logo, a sketch or an idea.
  9. How do I pay? Ask before you commit. We accept Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria, Remitly and Xoom.

Red flags when comparing uniform suppliers

  • No clear minimum order, or a number that changes when you ask twice.
  • A lead time with no starting point, or a delivery date that is never confirmed.
  • No proof before printing and no way to order a sample.
  • Refund terms that are vague or not written down.
  • Nobody can tell you where the uniforms are actually made.

What a factory-direct order looks like, step by step

  1. Brief: you send your logo, colours, sport and the items you need, or just an idea.
  2. Design and proof: we prepare the design and send a free digital proof.
  3. Roster: you send sizes, names and numbers for each player.
  4. Approval: you approve the proof, and we confirm the delivery date.
  5. Production: printing, cutting, sewing and quality checks take 5 to 7 working days.
  6. Shipping: the order ships to you.

There is no separate sales agent and no message passing along a chain. The same team handles your order from the first question to shipping.

Who gets the most from factory-direct ordering?

  • Clubs and leagues outfitting several teams in one design, including youth teams.
  • Schools that need matching game uniforms across levels.
  • Tournament organisers who need a batch for every entry.
  • Private-label brands that want apparel made under their own label.

If you coach one sport, the sport page shows what we make. For example, see our custom soccer uniforms.

Private label and white label

Brands can order apparel made under their own label. Because the work stays in one factory, your design, sizing and quality standards stay consistent from one order to the next. Contact us to discuss your product and the quantity you need.

Frequently asked questions

Does factory-direct cost less than buying from a reseller?

How do I know if a uniform company is a real manufacturer?
